Biography
Hi! My name is Dominic!
I have been drawing since I was four years old. I began by creating comic stories on loose sheets of paper I found at home or from my parents’ printer. Those early comics were playful and imaginative, usually built around silly storylines meant to make people laugh.
In my first years of elementary school, I created a superhero comic series called The Super Bros, inspired by my brother, my friends, myself, and my cat Kaipo. The series followed the adventures of a group of kids with extraordinary powers and their fearless feline companion. Even then, I was drawn to blending humor, character development, and visual storytelling.

In fourth grade, my Social Studies teacher asked me to illustrate his history lessons to make them more engaging for future classes. My drawings made my classmates laugh while helping them learn. He later nominated me for the Arlington County Schools Gifted Program in Visual Arts, which opened new artistic opportunities within my community and encouraged me to take my work seriously.

I am deeply passionate about superheroes and complex characters—both heroic and villainous—with powerful, otherworldly abilities. I carefully study human anatomy to ensure my characters are dynamic and balanced, even when placed in dramatic or exaggerated poses. One of my strongest technical skills is shading, particularly hatching and cross-hatching, which I use to create depth, movement, and emotion.

Through art classes, courses, and mentorship, I have evolved from primarily sketch-based work to experimenting with multiple materials and combining styles. Beyond traditional drawing, I enjoy digital media, theater performance, costume creation, commercial production, announcements, and dance. For me, visual storytelling extends beyond the page.

I am currently studying in the Foundation in Art & Design Year at Gnomon School of Visual Effects, Games & Animation, where I am strengthening my artistic fundamentals while preparing to transition fully into the digital realm of animation. My goal is to bring my original characters to life through 3D sculpting and animation, expanding my storytelling into immersive, dynamic experiences.

I consider myself an artist, and I aspire to build a career that allows me to live from my art while inspiring and entertaining others.
